Both the baseball and softball teams at Bellmont were victorious in sectional play Wednesday night. Leading the Braves on the baseball diamond was pitcher Beau Baker, who threw a no-hitter against Mississinewa. Bellmont won 6-0 at New Haven.
Baker dominated the Mississinewa offense over the course of seven innings. Not only did he not allow a single hit, he only walked two batters and struck out 14.
Mason Martinez drove in a run for the Braves.
The softball team, meanwhile, scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning in their 6-3 win over Heritage at Norwell.
Bellmont conceded two runs in the first inning to Heritage. A run each in innings two and three allowed Bellmont to pull level. Aaliyah Faurote gave the Braves the lead in the sixth inning with a two-RBI single. That was the first of three base hits in a row, the latter two added to the lead. Emily Bleke and Finnley Godsey followed Faurote’s hit by driving in a run each.
Heritage scored a run in the seventh, but couldn’t cut any further into the Bellmont lead.
