Diamondbacks left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez came up big under the bright lights Tuesday, March 17, shutting down a potent Team USA lineup at the World Baseball Classic championship game in Miami.
Venezuela scored once on a Eugenio Juarez double in the ninth inning to take a 3-2 victory.

Rodriguez pitched into the fifth inning for Venezuela, handing a 2-0 lead to his bullpen after firing 4 1/3 innings of one-hit ball, walking one and striking out four.
Expected to be one of the Diamondbacks’ starting pitchers to open this season, Rodriguez had just a 5.02 ERA in 29 starts last year. He is 94-66 with a 4.19 ERA over 10 big-league seasons.
He turns 33 next month.
