MIAMI (KCTV) – A tournament full of great moments and performances for Kansas City Royals players was capped with the World Baseball Classic MVP award going to one of their stars.
Royals third baseman Maikel Garcia was named WBC MVP after helping Venezuela beat the United States to win his homeland its first WBC title.
Garcia delivered a sacrifice fly to open the scoring in the final, a night after his go-ahead RBI single helped Venezuela beat Italy in the semifinals.
The La Sabana, Venezuela, native hit .385 during the WBC and had a home run and 7 RBI.
Royals catcher Salvador Perez was the captain of the Venezuelan team and scored the run that Garcia drove in.
