San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. secured a deal with Oi Ocha, a brand which also sponsors Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani.
During the World Baseball Classic, Tatis made headlines by making a “call me” gesture while holding a bottle of the drink while his Dominican Republic teammates Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Juan Soto both opted to remove the drink from the table.

Ito En’s Oi Ocha sponsored the WBC, and was present at press conferences for players’ convenience.
Ohtani partnered with Oi Ocha in 2024, and the company has used his likeness to promote their beverage in both the United States and Japan since. The drink’s signature bottles depict Ohtani in both street clothes and his Dodgers uniform.
While Tatis is one of MLB’s biggest stars, Ohtani likely won’t mind sharing one of his multiple brand deals.

How Much Does Shohei Ohtani Make in Endorsements?
Ohtani currently has the second biggest contract in MLB history, but that hasn’t stopped him from pulling in endorsement offers from around the globe.

Sportico reports Ohtani will make $125 million from sponsors and memorabilia — the highest number of any athlete in the history of sports. Tiger Woods reached a higher total adjusted for inflation, but pulled in $105 million with his deals in 2009.
Only two other players — Roger Federer and Stephen Curry — have reached the $100 million tally, and they each accomplished the feat one time. With his endorsement total in 2026, Ohtani has now reached that mark on two occasions.
“Ohtani’s 2026 endorsement tally is not only a record in sports, but it is also unmatched in the gap compared to the No. 2 in the sports,” Kurt Badenhausen of Sportico wrote.
“His projected off-field earnings are 14x what Judge and Bryce Harper should bank this year. The closest instance of a disparity between the top two athletes in a major sport over the past 30 years was Usain Bolt at his peak, making $30 million a year, 10x anyone else has in track.”
Ohtani’s value is sure to continue to climb in 2026 as he pursues a fourth consecutive MVP award, his first Cy Young award and the Dodgers’ first three-peat in franchise history.
