The Colorado Rockies play the finale of a four-game road series against the San Francisco Giants before heading back to Coors Field to play the Detroit Tigers and San Diego Padres. They are currently 6-27 (.182), which is the third-worst winning percentage through 33 games behind the 1988 Baltimore Orioles and 1952 Pittsburgh Pirates. That record is tied with the 1932 Boston Red Sox. They are also 2-16 on the road, which is tied for the worst start in franchise history on the road with the 2021 and 2005 clubs.

To add insult to injury, they are also in the midst of a 26-game stretch playing against clubs with records above .500 (May 1-June 1). They will not face an opponent with a record below .500 until they head to play the Miami Marlins on June 2.

Germán Márquez (0-5, 9.82 ERA) will take the mound for the Rockies. Márquez has struggled this year in his return from Tommy John surgery. He recorded his 1,000th career strikeout on April 24 against the Kansas City Royals, but has struggled otherwise. His 9.82 ERA is highest among MLB pitchers while his .369 average against is the second-highest among starters with a minimum of five starts. His five losing decisions are also tied for second-most in MLB.

In his last outing against the Atlanta Braves, Márquez tossed 5 1⁄3 innings and allowed seven runs on 11 hits with just one strikeout and one walk. Historically known as a strikeout pitcher, Márquez has not struck out more than four batters in a single start so far this year. Márquez has made 17 starts against the Giants, and has a 5-10 record with a 6.62 ERA. Of those 17 starts, 12 have been at Oracle Park, where he holds a 4-7 record and 5.32 ERA.

Márquez will face Giants’ right-hander Logan Webb (3-2, 2.83 ERA). Webb is coming off a career season in 2024 where he matched a career-best 33 starts, pitched an NL-leading 204 2⁄3 innings and posted a 13-10 record and 3.47 ERA. In his last outing against the Padres, Webb threw five innings and allowed five runs on nine hits with six strikeouts and one walk.

Webb has faced the Rockies 16 times (15 starts) and owns an 8-3 record and 3.23 ERA. Of those 16 appearances, seven of them have been at Oracle Park, where Webb is 5-1 with a 1.71 ERA.
