The Cincinnati Reds and Findlay Market Parade Committee announced the Grand Marshal of this year’s Opening Day Parade, and it should be a familiar face—or at least a familiar voice—for Reds fans.
Former Reds pitcher and current Reds broadcaster Jeff Brantley, a.k.a. Cowboy, will be this year’s Grand Marshal. Dr. Timothy Kremchek was named the Honorary Grand Marshal.
The announcement was made earlier today at the Findlay Market Opening Day Parade press conference. Mayor Aftab Pureval, City Manager Sheryl Long and other city representatives attended the conference, along with Parade Chairman Neil Luken. Owner Phil Castellini and Reds Hall of Fame & Museum Executive Director Rick Walls were also there speaking on behalf of the team.
If you’ve been living under a rock, Opening Day is next Thursday, March 26. It is an unofficial holiday in the Queen City. It is one of the biggest opening day celebrations in all of Major League Baseball.
The parade kicks off at Findlay Market at noon, with over 140 units set to cruise down from Findlay Market to The Banks.
