Sloppy play in the field derailed No. 14 Bridgewater in a 13-7 loss to Washington and Lee on Wednesday in Lexington.

The Eagles committed six errors and remain winless in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.

The Generals scored four runs in the third inning and extended their lead to 8-2 with back-to-back three-run innings in the fifth and sixth.

Bridgewater made a late push with five runs across the final three innings, but the damage had been done.

Freshman outfielder Jakson Walter led the Eagles with three hits and three runs scored. Broadway High School alum Bryce Suters had two hits and an RBI, and Nick Stavros added two hits and two runs scored.

Third baseman Ashton Smith and shortstop Bransen Hensley, another Broadway graduate, each had a hit and an RBI. Zack Chadwell and Jake Harris also recorded a hit for Bridgewater, while Hunter Covill and Matthew Bishop each pitched an inning of scoreless relief.

Bridgewater (15-3, 0-3 ODAC) hosts Virginia Wesleyan in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday.
