KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Several of the items and equipment pieces from Kansas City Royals stars Maikel Garcia and Salvador Perez are on their way to Cooperstown following the World Baseball Classic.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame announced Wednesday that items from the World Baseball Classic MVP and Venezuela’s team captain are heading to the museum after Tuesday night’s final ended with Venezuela winning the event for the first time.

Royals third baseman Maikel Garcia, who hit .385 with a home run and 7 RBI during the WBC, is sending his helmet to Cooperstown.

Perez’s Venezuela-themed catcher’s gear, including shin guards, chest protector, helmet and mask is also heading to New York to go in the museum’s new World Baseball Classic exhibit.

Tuesday night, Garcia, Perez and Royals reliever Luinder Avila were part of Team Venezuela, which beat Team USA, 3-2 to win the title. Perez had a single and scored the game’s first run on a sacrifice fly by Garcia.

They beat Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr., who walked and scored a run in the eighth inning when Philadelphia Phillies slugger Bryce Harper delivered a game-tying 2-run home run to center field.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame said among the other items from the tournament that will go to the museum is the bat used by Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino during a 3 home run game.
