It’s once again time for a new series, and this isn’t an easy one. The San Francisco Giants are on the road to face the Chicago Cubs, who have the best offense in baseball and one of the best records, too.

Trying to tame that offense in Monday’s opener will be right-hander Landen Roupp, who makes his seventh start of the season. Roupp is 2-2 on the year, with a 5.10 ERA, a 3.87 FIP, and 35 strikeouts to 14 walks in 30 innings. He’s struggled in his last few games, and most recently allowed four runs in 4.1 innings against the San Diego Padres.

On the other side is lefty Matthew Boyd, who was employed by the Giants for a while, but never actually pitched for them. The 34 year old has been great through six starts, with a 2-2 record, a 2.70 ERA, a 3.79 FIP, and 30 strikeouts to 13 walks in 33.1 innings. He pitched five innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates his last time out, and gave up two runs.

Enjoy the game! Go Giants!
