It’s not every day that you see a giant banner being driven down the street, but that’s what some Seattle Mariners fans saw on Thursday afternoon.
Thanks to King 5 TV in Seattle, fans got a sneak peak at the team’s 2025 American League West Champions banner, which is set to be unveiled next Thursday as the team opens up the 2026 campaign against the Cleveland Guardians.

The banner will join the other divisional title banners from 1995, 1997 and 2001. The Mariners also advanced to the American League Championship Series for the fourth time in franchise history (1995, 2000, 2001, 2025). Ultimately, they fell in seven games against the Toronto Blue Jays and this team will enter the season with the biggest expectations in franchise history.
As we put the finishing bows on the 2025 season, it really was a special campaign. Seattle went 90-72, dispatching the long run of the Houston Astros atop the division. They defeated the Detroit Tigers in the American League Division Series, capping it off with a dramatic 15th-inning walk-off win in Game 5.

Cal Raleigh hit 60 home runs, the most-ever by a Mariners player, a catcher or a switch-hitter, and finished second in the MVP voting. Bryan Woo, Andres Munoz, Raleigh, Julio Rodriguez and Randy Arozarena were named All-Stars, and Raleigh won the Home Run Derby to put the Mariners on the national stage.
The season wasn’t without its struggles as the M’s dealt with injuries to Logan Gilbert, George Kirby, Bryce Miller, Woo, Victor Robles, Ryan Bliss and Luke Raley at various points. A disastrous August and early September almost derailed things, but the M’s got hot in the season’s final month.

Who knows what this season will bring? Bryce Miller is going to start the season on the injured list and J.P. Crawford might. There are questions about how the World Baseball Classic will impact players down the stretch and if the addition of Brendan Donovan is enough to offset the loss of Jorge Polanco.

Those questions will all start to come into focus next Thursday night as the M’s take on Cleveland, who won the American League Central in 2025.
Logan Gilbert will take the ball for Seattle in the opener, as he was named the Opening Day starter for the second straight season on Thursday. He helped the M’s beat the Athletics in 2025.
