Injured Detroit Tigers groundskeeper flips off camera while being attended to by medical staff

  • May 29, 2025

DETROIT – A Detroit Tigers groundskeeper suffered a leg injury during the seventh-inning stretch vs. the San Francisco Giants inside Comerica Park.

The Tigers went on to be the Giants’ 4-3 to collect another series sweep and improve their winning streak to four, while advancing to 37-20 on the season before hitting the road to take on the Kansas City Royals inside Kauffman Stadium.

However, the talk across the baseball world centered on the crew member who, amid pain, decided to flip off the camera while being attended to by the medical staff.

The injury occurred on Wednesday (May 28) during the seventh-inning stretch.

From the broadcast, it looked like the member stumbled before suffering his leg injury while raking the infield ahead of the eighth inning in front of the Giants’ dugout.

Colt Keith and Gleyber Torres stood in disbelief as the Giants sent out their trainers, the man in great dismay.

EMS was called to the field for medical attention as the game was delayed for a few minutes.

Then, Tigers assistant athletic trainer Chris McDonald attended to the man and began treating the injured crew member’s left leg when the groundskeeper flipped the NBC Sports Bay Area camera off in the process.

The groundskeeper would have left it up if McDonald hadn’t reached out and folded his finger down.

There is no word on the groundskeeper’s condition, but he left his mark in the infield.
