One 21-run win over Milano this week was not enough for the Burton Lady Panthers.

Burton one-upped itself on Friday by earning a shutout win over the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Panthers scored 17 first-inning runs and rode their momentum to a 21-0 three-inning win against Milano at the Burton City Park.

Burton (8-12, 2-0 district) scored 43 runs in its two-game series against Milano. The Lady Panthers had beaten Milano 22-1 earlier in the week on Tuesday.

Friday’s big win came courtesy of 11 hits and eight walks. Burton tallied nine hits and five walks in the first inning.

Burton pitcher Lexi Broesche opened the scoring in the bottom of the first after reaching base on an error and coming around to score. Senior center fielder Amaya Williams hit a two-run home run after sophomore Natalie Hodde added a single. Fellow senior Paige Fritsch gave Burton back-to-back home runs with a blast to center field that pushed the Lady Panthers to a 4-0 lead.

Sophomore catcher Leilah Ellis came home to score after a passed ball and two wild pitches before senior shortstop Aerynn Huntsman made it 6-0 Burton on another Milano error. Laci Broesche added a seventh run on another wild pitch.

After the lineup turned over to Lexi Broesche, she drove in Melanie Wood with an infield single. Williams then tallied a grand slam to extend Burton’s lead to 12-0.

Milano got a pair of strikeouts before Wood hit a two-RBI double into left field. Wood came home on an error before Hodde earned an RBI on an infield single. Laci Broesche also scored on an error to complete Burton’s 17-run inning.

The Lady Panthers drew three straight walks to open the bottom of the second inning. Kelsey Landriault drove in two runs with a base hit into left field.

An infield single brought home one run before Landriault completed Burton’s 21-run performance by scoring herself.

Lexi Broesche turned in her second conescutive three-hit no-hitter. She struck out eight of the nine batters she faced.

Four Lady Panthers earned multi-hit outings. Lexi Broesche, Hodde, Williams and Wood all collected two hits. Williams’ two home runs totaled six RBIs. Burton also got walks from eight different players.

Burton continues district play at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a home matchup against Somerville.
