Chuck Norris ‘Walker, Texas Ranger’ props on display at Waco museum

  • March 23, 2026

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – Pieces of Chuck Norris’ history as Hollywood’s most famous Texas Ranger are on display at the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum in Waco.

The museum’s pop culture gallery features props used by Norris in his role as Sergeant Cordell Walker, including Walker’s hat, jacket, badge and gun.

According to Collections Manager Eric Richard, the items arrived in Waco after the fifth season of “Walker, Texas Ranger” wrapped up in 1997.

“If you’re curious, Walker does wear a Stetson brand hat,” Richard said.

Richard said the artifacts offer visitors a connection to television history.

“What makes them special to me is the fact that you can look at history that was used in the production of cinematography,” Richard said. “These items, I always say that the power of the actual artifact is always more impressive. You get to see cool things in history that if they could talk, you only imagine what they could say.”

Richard said people’s introduction to the Texas Rangers is often through fiction, like “Walker, Texas Ranger” or “The Lone Ranger.” The props serve as tools to help educate visitors about the real history of the Rangers.

The museum also operates a research center for people looking into their Ranger ancestry. Richard said one common question involves Cordell Walker.

“Unfortunately, he is not real, which we have to turn people away for a little time, but we do have records on many other rangers in history,” Richard said.

The same gallery features memorabilia from “The Lone Ranger”.
