Arizona increased urgency to ‘flush’ current rough stretch
“Probably in like the seventh inning, I think everybody looked like they saw a ghost,” Lovullo said. “And I don’t blame them. I think we were all frustrated, and we got to flush it. We gotta get through it. Thankfully, we have an off-day [Thursday]. I think there was a little bit of a hangover from being six outs away from finishing out a game last night that we couldn’t finish out. But we got to flush this. We got to come out here Friday with a new sense of urgency and a new sense of focus.”

Season worst: Diamondbacks fall 2 games under .500 with loss to Paul Skenes, Pirates
“From a clubhouse standpoint, I think we know we have a lot more talent — we’re a better baseball team — than how we’re playing right now,” Gallen said. “It’s kind of very uncharacteristic of us the last couple of weeks. It starts with me, really. I’m not giving us a chance to win when I’m out there. We’ve got a lot of talent in this clubhouse, a really good culture. We’ve had our struggles before in years where we kind of finished on a pretty good note. We’ve got to get into gear. I get that it’s still a third of the way into the season so you don’t want to overreact, but time’s ticking.”

Diamondbacks’ late-game problems are fixable, GM Mike Hazen says
“This is my problem to fix and figure out a way to get this group in a spot where we are consistently locking down leads,” general manager Mike Hazen told Arizona Sports’ Wolf & Luke on Wednesday. “We’ve dug into these problems multiple times. I mean, it’s not just the pitching. Our defense late in games hasn’t been playing very well, either. The bullpen is gonna be an area that we’re gonna continue to work on, make changes to and get this right. This team is too good not to have a good bullpen.”

In 2005, Australia banned the word “mate.”
Due to complaints, the Australian Parliament once banned the use of “mate” at work. However, it didn’t last too long, and the ruling was withdrawn in 24 hours.
“Pants” used to be a dirty word.
Shortened from pantaloons, “pants” was considered vulgar by some language commentators. In Ambrose Bierce’s 1909 book Write It Right, he wrote the following on using the term “pants” for trousers: “Abbreviated from pantaloons, which are no longer worn. Vulgar exceedingly.”
The average horse is capable of 746 watts of power.
This is approximately 15 horsepower. This term was developed during the 18th century when the steam engine was being marketed.
