Connor Seabold didn’t waste much time finding a new home. He didn’t have much time to waste.

Two days after the Toronto Blue Jays released him, Seabold signed a split contract with the Detroit Tigers on March 23. The right-handed pitcher will make $800,000 if he’s in MLB, according to multiple reports.

Seabold struck out an impressive 13 batters in 6.2 Grapefruit League innings with the Blue Jays. He also walked four batters and hit three more for the defending American League champions.
To make room on their 40-man roster for Seabold, the Tigers placed Beau Brieske (left adductor strain) on the 60-day injured list.
The Blue Jays open their season against the A’s in Toronto on March 27.
Seabold, 30, is 1-11 with a 7.79 ERA in 40 games (19 starts) with the Boston Red Sox (2021-22), Colorado Rockies (2023), Tampa Bay Rays (2025) and Atlanta (2025).
The California native was originally drafted out of Cal State Fullerton by the Phillies in the third round of the 2017 MLB Draft.
Brieske, 27, went 10-17 with a 4.14 ERA in 108 games for the Tigers from 2022-25. Brieske finished last season on the 60-day injured list with a right forearm strain that limited him to 22 games.
