EASTERN — Making up for lost time due to the late-winter weather that affected the start of the 2026 high school softball season, Floyd Central reeled off three wins in less than 24 hours from Friday, March 20-Saturday, March 21.

Floyd Central is 3-0 after hosting a trio of opponents during the first week of the 2026 high school softball season.  

The Lady Jaguars, under the direction of Coach Scott Shannon, notched three straight wins over Elliott County, Pike County Central and 58th District rival Betsy Layne. 

Floyd Central 14, Betsy Layne 4 (6 innings): Floyd Central pulled away to beat Betsy Layne 14-4 in six innings in a 58th District softball game on Saturday, March 21. 

Whitley Hall and Maddy Engle split time in the circle for the Lady Jaguars. Hall started in the circle for Floyd Central and earned the win. Then, following Hall, Engle pitched in relief and claimed the save. 

Hall and Engle pitched three innings apiece. 

Marissa Blankenship pitched for Betsy Layne and suffered the loss. Blankenship struck out one Floyd Central batter. 

Floyd Central scored 14 runs on 14 hits. Engle (one hit), Adalyn Hall (three hits, four RBIs), Aubree Shelton (three hits, one RBI), Brooklyn Lewis (two hits, two RBIs), Mia Queen-Gilliam (two hits, two RBIs), Whitley Hall (one hit, two RBIs), Cadyn Roberson (one hit), Delilah Rodriguez (one hit) and Reagan Laferty contributed offensively in Floyd Central’s 10-run win.  Lewis, Whitley Hall and Adalyn Hall each doubled for the Lady Jaguars. 

Offensively for Betsy Layne, Miley Burchett (one hit, one RBI), Hailey Carroll (one hit, one RBI), Hannah Jarrell (one hit) and Jalen Carroll (one hit) each produced at the plate. 

Floyd Central 20, Pike County Central 5 (4 innings): Floyd Central rolled past Pike County Central 20-5 in four innings in the nightcap of a doubleheader on Friday, March 20. 

Maddy Engle pitched for Floyd Central and claimed the win in the circle. Engle, who pitched a complete game, recorded four strikeouts. 

Ashlyn Stepp started in the circle for Pike County Central and suffered the loss. 

Following Stepp, Natalee Williamson pitched one-third of an inning in relief for the Lady Hawks. 

Floyd Central scored 20 runs on 10 hits. A balanced offensive attack for Floyd Central featured Engle (one hit), Brooklyn Lewis (three hits, three RBIs), Mia Queen-Gilliam (two hits, two RBIs), Adalyn Hall (one hit, three RBIs), Aubree Shelton (one hit, two RBIs), Whitley Hall (one hit) and Delilah Rodriguez (one hit). Lewis, Queen-Gilliam and Adalyn Hall each doubled for the Lady Jaguars. 

Offensively for Pike County Central, Kenley Crum (one hit, two RBIs), Kennedy Hamilton (one hit, one RBI), Daisy Scott (one hit, one RBI), Kylee Compton (one hit) and Briley Williamson (one hit) each contributed.

Floyd Central 13, Elliott County 7: Floyd Central defeated Elliott County 13-7 in its season opener on Friday, March 20. 

Whitley Hall, fresh off signing with Thomas More, started in the circle for Floyd Central and claimed the win. Hall pitched five and one-third innings and recorded three strikeouts.

Following Hall, Maddy Engle pitched the rest of the game in relief for the Lady Jaguars. Engle struck out three Elliott County batters. 

Floyd Central scored 13 runs on eight hits. Engle (two hits, one RBI), Cadyn Roberson (two hits, one RBI), Delilah Rodriguez (one hit, two RBIs), Mia Queen-Gilliam (one hit, one RBI), Adalyn Hall (one RBI), Whitley Hall (one hit, one RBI), Reagan Laferty (one hit) and Aubree Shelton (one RBI) each aided Floyd Central offensively. Rodriguez legged out a triple while Whitley Hall doubled.
