Pitcher Davis Feldman, who spent parts of two seasons in the Toronto Blue Jays’ minor league system, announced his immediate retirement March 23.

Feldman, 28, was released by the Blue Jays in March 2024 after topping out at Double-A New Hampshire. He finished out the 2024 season with Fargo-Moorhead of the American Association.

“After lots of prayer, reflecting, and talks with family, friends, doctors, and people I trust… I have made the decision to medically retire from baseball,” Feldman wrote on his Instagram account.

Feldman went on to describe the medical issues that have plagued him before and after he made two scoreless appearances with the FisherCats in 2023.

“Six years of college due to Tommy John #1 and Covid, getting released from Indy ball twice in my 1st year of pro ball, growing into myself in 2022, get signed by the Blue Jays in 2023, released again, Tommy John #2 15 months ago, work back to get a contract in Mexico this year, to breaking my arm mid pitch a week before the season started,” he wrote.

“It’s been one hell of a wild wild ride.”

In 11 games (nine starts) with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in 2024, Feldman went 7-1 with a 2.87 ERA. A Michigan native, Feldman pitched four seasons at Eastern Michigan University. He also played four games at second base for the Eagles as a freshman.
