MADISON, Ala. (WAFF) – As we get closer to Opening Day, the Trash Pandas are in the final stages of building a locker room needed to comply with MLB standards.
Construction has been ongoing since October on a locker room in left field, designated for female umpires, coaches and training personnel.
Out of all major and minor league teams, the Trash Pandas are the last to comply.
General Manager Garrett Fahrmann says MLB set the deadline for April 1 of last year but allowed them to extend it to April 1 of this year instead.
It’s expected to be complete at the end of April, and no punishment is anticipated.
Fahrmann says until it’s complete, all female staff members can use the visitor’s locker room that they’ve used the past five seasons.
