QUINCY — Quincy Notre Dame softball faced off against Rochester for their first game of the season at the Backyard on Wednesday afternoon.
Rochester spoiled the home opener for QND, coming away with a 8-5 win over the Lady Raiders.
Both teams scored three runs in the first inning, with Rochester adding two runs in the third to take the lead back, which they never relinquished.
QND starting pitcher Josie Boyer pitched a complete game in a losing effort, striking out three batters and allowing 13 hits, four walks and six earned runs.
Rochester starting pitcher Kendall Edmondson also pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts, while allowing six hits, no walks and three earned runs.
Lady Raiders third baseman Natalie Zook went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run.
QND first baseman Cadence Smith went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI, while second baseman Ellie Miller went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Rochester catcher Peyton Purves went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run, while shortstop Isabella Harness went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.
Both teams had an error apiece.
Up next for QND (1-3) is a home triangular on Saturday, with the Lady Raiders facing Payson Seymour at 10:30 a.m. and Calhoun at 1:30 p.m.
