WILLIAMSPORT — The Cowanesque Valley Indians (15-4) took home their first-ever District 4 Class A Title here on Monday, May 26 as they turned in an incredible all-around performance to capture a 5-2 victory over the St. John Neumann Golden Knights (12-5) and punched their ticket to the State Tournament.

It was a full display of the CV squad during the win, with their pitching staff allowing just two runs on five hits while their bats would turn around and use six hits to score five runs.

On the mound, Aryen Morgan got the start and went four and two-thirds inning and allowed five hits, and two runs (one earned) with five strikeouts earning the win and doing a strong job of forcing the Neumann bats to hit right into the teeth of the smothering CV defense.

CV would get on the board first, with Loagan Stickler stretching a double to triple before Dave Hess sent him on a bunt to force Neumann into a poor decision in the bottom of the third.

Moments later, Morgan would push Hess to second before Lucas Hamilton sent him home on a single to give the Indians a two-run advantage.

The Golden Knights responded with a two-run outburst in the top of the fourth— but Hess would come into the game and stop the bleeding with two outs to get the Indians out of the inning with minimal damage.

In the next inning, CV responded with another two-run rally, and with William Kies batting in Danny Smith after reaching on a walk before Stickler once again delivered a huge hit with an RBI single to go up 4-0.

In the top of the sixth, CV added an insurance run on a Stickler RBI double to go up 5-2 and take control of the game.

In the final innings, Hess was able to pick up the save with an impressive outing where he would go just over two innings, allow no hits, no runs, and ended the game by forcing Neumann into a dribbler double-play ground out at second to Hunter Simonds to close the game.

Stickler played hero on the night, with the only senior on the CV roster going 3-4 with one run scored, two RBIs, and two doubles with nearly every one of his hits coming at pivotal moments in the game.

Levi Stahli, Morgan, and Hamilton all added hits with Hamilton securing one RBI, Kies and Hess adding one RBI, while Churchill and Smith both scored runs in the victory for the Indians.

The Indians have turned in an incredible 2025 season that included winning the NTL Small School Division, taking home their first-ever District 4 Title, and punching their ticket to States for the first time as a program in 2025.

They also avenged a loss in the District 4 Class A Championship the Golden Knights three seasons ago where they lost in an extra-inning thriller by a score of 9-6 in a game where they led late.

They will look to keep their historic run going on Monday, June 2 as they get to host the Mount Calvary Christian Academy (12-5) out of Elizabethtown who were the runner-ups of the District 3 Championship at 4 p.m.
