When we asked for a comeback, this isn’t what we had in mind. AJ Smith-Shawver took a comebacker to the lower leg/ calf/ upper ankle.

Smith-Shawver left the game with 2 earned runs, one walk, one home run allowed, one strikeout gained along with likely a bruise, perhaps a UCL injury. Not going to guess, I don’t even pretend to be a doctor, but AJ was definitely feeling out the elbow afterward. Scott Blewett followed Smith-Shawver on the mound. Dylan Dodd is available today from Gwinnett, just in case this game starts to get away from the Braves.

If I had to guess, I’m gonna go with this is not good. AJ looked ok after the practice pitches after the ball struck his right calf/ ankle/ that meaty bit of flesh behind the ankle on the back side of the leg. But the arm is more of a concern.

The Braves started Stuart Fairchild in right field. Now it is Ronald Acuña Jr. there. It looked like Fairchild suffered a finger injury.

And as I’m writing this, Stuart Fairchild has been removed from the game with a dislocated or broken little finger on the right hand. Just what this game needed. Ima quit writing for now, thanks.
