Brewers rout White Sox for Opening Day victory

You couldn’t ask for much better of a start to the Milwaukee Brewers’ 2026 campaign.The Brewers began the season with a commanding Opening Day victory over the Chicago White Sox, 14-2.After making his debut last season, pitcher Jacob Misiorowski now looks to establish himself as the Brewers’ new ace. The flamethrower settled into the game after allowing a leadoff solo home run to Chase Meidroth. Misiorowski would toss four scoreless innings after that, finishing the day with 5 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 3 BB and 11 K on 94 pitches (57 strikes).The Miz ended up setting a Brewers Opening Day franchise record with 11 strikeouts.The Brewers got on the board in the second inning and did not look back. It all started with a Joey Ortiz single with the bases loaded in the second inning and a bases-clearing double by William Contreras. Sal Frelick recorded his first home run of the season in the fifth inning with a solo shot. Jake Bauers also picked up right where he left off after a strong spring training and hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning.The only runs for the White Sox came in the first and ninth innings. Both were solo home runs. The Brewers did announce some unfortunate news before the home opener. Outfielder Jackson Chourio was placed on the 10-day injured list because of a fractured left hand he suffered in an exhibition game during the World Baseball Classic for team Venezuela on March 4. Chourio was hit by a pitch during the exhibition and alerted the Brewers of pain after a checked swing earlier this week. He’s expected to miss two to four weeks. Blake Perkins was recalled from Triple-A Nashville.
