Just days after a narrowing 5-3 defeat to the Braves, the Gauchos (6-3, 1-1) left nothing to chance on Thursday afternoon in Napa, scoring in every inning but one to split the season series in the Vine Valley Athletic League.

Casa was already up 5-0 after three innings before the Gauchos really broke the game open with a four-run fourth. Tyler Pelissetti had a three-run double, Ian Flores had two RBIs and Franco Bernardini went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

On the bump, Miles Nicholas went five strong innings for Casa, allowing five hits with no runs while striking out five.

For Justin (7-3, 1-1), Braeden Butler had two hits.

Petaluma 8, Napa 4

Petaluma (9-2, 2-0 VVAL) scored all eight runs in the first four innings as they swept the season series over Napa (2-8-1, 0-2) on Thursday afternoon at home.

The Trojans, despite being outhit 9-7, got things started with a two-run first inning and finished with a three-run fourth. Dalton Deadman went 2-for-4 with a RBI, Aiden Jones had a two-run double with two runs scored and Ben Vollmer went 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.

For Napa, Camden Aaen and Francisco Robinson had a pair of hits, while Rocco Capponi had a home run.

Sonoma Valley 5, Vintage 0

The Dragons (6-3, 1-1 VVAL) scored three runs in the second inning and another two in the fourth as they split the season series with Vintage (5-5, 1-1) with a home victory Thursday.

Max Trexler was electric on the mound in Sonoma’s win, firing a complete-game shutout with two hits, two walks and seven strikeouts.

Colin Buckley led the way on offense with a double and a RBI for the Dragons, while Ben Methner also had an RBI.

Grace Christian Academy 11, Cornerstone Christian 0

The Lions (5-0) rode strong pitching and hitting to cruise to a nonleague win over Cornerstone on Thursday.

Leif Jackson was on fire from the bump, hurling a six-inning no-hitter in which he totalled a whopping 18 strikeouts while allowing just one walk.

Jerome Swehla led the offense with a two-run home run, while Gio Cabrera and Erik Sannaman had two hits apiece.
