Reds celebrating Kids Opening Day for Saturday game against Red Sox
ALL OVER THE PLACE. THE BRIDGE HAD TO BE SHUT DOWN. OUR CREWS HAVE BEEN OUT ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT. UNFORTUNATELY, THE ROWDY CROWDS STARTED TO BE A PROBLEM HOURS AGO. IN FACT, OUR DAISY KERSHAW MOVED ACROSS THE RIVER INTO KENTUCKY. DAISY, EXPLAIN WHAT YOU WERE SEEING AND WHY YOU DECIDED TO MOVE SO EARLY ON TONIGHT. ABSOLUTELY. SHEREE MIKE. IT’S NOT UNCOMMON FOR FOLKS TO HAVE A FEW TOO MANY DRINKS ON DAYS LIKE THIS, BUT WHAT WE SAW OVER AT THE BANKS EARLIER WAS BEHAVIOR GETTING OUT OF CONTROL, AGGRESSIVE FIGHTS, BREAKING OUT BEFORE THE GAME WAS EVEN OVER. IT’S WHY WE’RE DOING OUR LIVE REPORT HERE RIGHT NOW ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RIVER. AND IT’S UNFORTUNATE BECAUSE TODAY FANS REALLY JUST WANTED TO FOCUS ON CELEBRATING THE START OF A NEW BASEBALL SEASON. THERE’S NOTHING LIKE IT. THE PARADE TO THE PRIDE. OPENING DAY IN CINCINNATI IS ONE OF A KIND. OPENING DAY IS HERITAGE. I MEAN, THIS IS A TRADITION. DOESN’T MATTER IF THEY WIN OR LOSE. IT’S A GREAT EVENT. THERE’S A TON OF PEOPLE DOWN HERE. IT’S JUST A GOOD TIME. EVEN AFTER THE DAY’S LOSS, HIS FANS NOT LOSING HOPE. WE’RE GOING TO WIN THE NEXT 161 GAMES, GOING TO THE PLAYOFFS, WINNING THE WORLD SERIES. EVERYONE AT THE BANKS THIS YEAR, HAVING A BALL GENERATIONS GATHERING HERE TO SHARE IN THIS TRADITION. THIS IS MY FIRST OPENING DAY AT A TIME. FOR SOME, IT’S ALL NEW. HAVE YOU GUYS BEEN TO OPENING DAY BEFORE? YES. HOW MANY TIMES? DO. FOR SOME, IT’S NEVER GOTTEN OLD. HOW MANY OPENING DAYS HAVE YOU BEEN TO? THIS IS MY 53RD IN A ROW. I SKIPPED HIGH SCHOOL IN 1973 AND I HAVEN’T MISSED ONE SINCE RETURNING AGAIN AND AGAIN TO HOME BASE. LET’S GO REDS. WELL, YOU HEARD US TELL YOU ABOUT WHAT WAS GOING ON OVER ON THE OTHER SIDE BY THE BANKS TONIGHT. TOTAL 180. YOU CAN SEE FROM A LOT OF THE CELEBRATIONS THAT WE GOT TO BE A PART OF TODAY. I SPOKE WITH MANY LONG TIME REDS FANS WHO SAY THAT OVER THE DECADES, THIS IS ONE OF THE BUSIEST, BIGGEST CROWDS THAT THEY’VE SEEN COME OUT, DESCRIBI
