CINCINNATI, Ohio – Sonny Gray revived his career with the Reds, and will begin his Red Sox tenure against them Saturday afternoon.
Gray, 36, will make his 14th season debut against the Cincinnati franchise with whom he posted a 3.49 ERA over 68 starts from 2019-21. The Red Sox acquired the veteran right-hander from the St. Louis Cardinals early in the offseason.
The Boston ball club will look to take their first series win, after triumphing 3-0 on Opening Day Thursday. They’ll do so with Game 1 pinch-hit hero Marcelo Mayer making his first start of the year, at second base.
