Miami Marlins first baseman Christopher Morel is expected to be sidelined four-to-six weeks with a strained ‌left oblique, manager Clayton McCullough announced Saturday.

The Marlins placed Morel on the 10-day injured list Saturday ‌and recalled first baseman Deyvison De Los Santos from Triple-A Jacksonville.

Morel, 26, was scratched ahead of Friday’s 2-1 victory against the Colorado Rockies on Opening Day.

He signed a one-year, $2 million deal with Miami in December after batting .219 with 11 homers and 33 RBIs in 105 games ‌for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2025.

Morel is a career .222/.299/.415 hitter with 74 home runs and 210 RBIs in 477 games with the Chicago Cubs (2022-24) and ‌Rays (2024-25).

De Los Santos, 22, has yet to make his ‌major league debut. He went 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBIs and two runs scored in Jacksonville’s season-opening 8-7 loss to Rochester on Friday.
