Pitcher Brent Honeywell’s latest chance in Major League Baseball ended almost as quietly as the last one .

Honeywell, who was non-tendered by the Dodgers after their 2024 World Series run, did not pitch in organized baseball last year.

In February, he signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants, but wasn’t invited to the team’s major league spring training camp.

Honeywell was assigned to the Giants’ Double-A affiliate to begin the minor league season on March 27. One day later, he was released from his minor league contract without appearing in a game for the Richmond Flying Squirrels, according to his transactions log.

The timing allows Honeywell time to latch on with another organization for the 2026 season, but is a tad bittersweet. The journeyman turns 31 in two days.

Honeywell is 3-5 with a 4.10 ERA in parts of three MLB seasons (2021-24) with the Dodgers, San Diego Padres, Chicago White Sox, Tampa Bay Rays, and Pittsburgh Pirates.

In the 2024 postseason, Honeywell made three appearances for the Dodgers as an innings-eater out of the bullpen. In two NLCS games against the Mets, he pitched 7.2 innings and allowed four runs. In one World Series game against the Yankees, he allowed five runs in one inning.

Honeywell collected the only World Series ring of his career after the season.
