THIS CLOSE TO FREEDOM — This fan almost got away.
When fans make their way onto the field — be it at a baseball, soccer or football game — it’s usually not long before they get tackled by security or take a tumble during their (oftentimes inebriated) dash of freedom.
On Wednesday, though, a New York Yankees fan appeared to have an escape route.
During the bottom of the seventh inning of the Yankees’ 1-0 win over the Angels, the fan offered up some added excitement to the low-scoring affair.
The fan — wearing an Aaron Judge jersey and appearing to record the scene on his phone — darted across the outfield, slipping between two security guards and even causing one to stumble with a slick juke.
After running by Yankees right fielder Cody Bellinger, who didn’t flinch one bit over the shenanigans, the fan hopped back into the stands — but he didn’t get much further than that.
He appeared to lose his balance and fell into a seat, allowing him to be caught.
The fan was quickly dragged back onto the field and was placed in handcuffs.
He was maybe a few seconds from freedom, and now he faces possible legal repercussions.
Was the dash worth it?
Well, he was serenaded with “MVP” chants as he was escorted off the field … so maybe?
