Major League Baseball isn’t the sport known for weekend heroics in March, but Christian Yelich and the Milwaukee Brewers apparently wanted to get in on all this March Madness stuff.

Yelich’s pinch-hit, three-run home run in the eighth inning capped a six-run rally and brought the Brewers back from deficits of 4-0 and 7-2 in a thrilling 9-7-victory over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday, March 29 at American Family Field.

After dominating the first two games of the series, the Brewers trailed 7-2 after the White Sox scored four runs in the first inning, two in the second and one in the third.

But Milwaukee’s bullpen made the comeback possible by not allowing the White Sox to cross the plate after building an early 7-2 lead.

Trailing 7-3 in the eighth with the bases loaded and one out, Brice Turang’s single scored Joey Ortiz. After William Contreras popped out to third base, Luis Rengifo’s single up the middle scored Brandon Lockridge and Blake Perkins.

That set the stage for Yelich, who blasted Seranthony Dominguez’ 2-2 offering into the right field bleachers for a three-run home run to give the Brewers an opening three-game sweep of the White Sox.

The seven unanswered runs on March 29 gave the Brewers a 29-10 scoring advantage over the three games.
