After getting shut out 3-0 on Opening Day, the Reds picked up a couple of close wins to win their series against the Boston Red Sox over the weekend. On Saturday they had a 6-5 walkoff win in the 11th inning, then held off a late Red Sox push on Sunday to take that game 3-2.

The Pirates also got their share of close games to open the season. They were visiting the New York Mets and played extra inning games on both Saturday and Sunday. Pittsburgh lost the first one 4-2 in the 11th inning, but then got its first win of the year with a 10-inning 4-3 win on Sunday.

Both teams will send righties to the mound to start this game. Braxton Ashcraft will go for the Pirates, with Chase Burns getting the start for the Reds.
