Weiss had previously served as Atlanta’s bench coach since 2018, so he’s very familiar with the ins and outs of the organization.
“I wouldn’t be sitting here if it wasn’t for Snit. I hope we can have a same type of success that we had under his tenure,” Weiss said in his pregame press conference.
“The last eight years—I know last year wasn’t what we wanted—but I mean, you look at those eight years. Overall, virtually every team in baseball would sign up for those eight years, every team not called the Dodgers, probably. We’re going to hope to continue that. The bar is high here and I’m hoping we’re going to live up to that.”
2024 NL Cy Young winner Chris Sale gets the start for Atlanta, while the Royals will turn to their ace, Cole Ragans. First pitch is slated for 7:15.
