After winning in walk-off fashion in extra innings on Friday night, the Grand Junction High School baseball team did it again Saturday, defeating Grandview 7-6 at Canyon View Park.

After the Wolves scored one run in the top of the eighth inning for a 6-5 lead, the Tigers went to work in the bottom of the inning.

With one out, David Shepard singled and Kaleb David followed with a walk. Tiitus Forsyth laid down a bunt and an error allowed pinch-runner Elijah Meyer and David to score to lift Grand Junction (8-1) to the win.

Shepard, Gareth Keller, Sean Witt and Tyler Johnson all had two hits for the Tigers with Keller collecting two RBI. Andrew Henderson allowed one run on six hits with seven strikeouts and one walk in five innings pitched and Kody Knott got the win in relief.

Palisade 13, Thompson Valley 0: The Bulldogs ran their winning streak to six games with an easy win.

Palisade (9-1) scored three runs in the first inning, six in the second, three in the third and one more in the fourth for the run-rule victory.

Will Seriani hit a two-run home run in the first inning and Hunter Howard added a two-run shot in the third.

Howard and Seriani both had two hits and three RBI and Cash Salazar also had two hits and added one RBI.

Fruita Monument 9, Castle View 3: Josh Weaver struck out 12 batters and allowed only one hit in five innings to carry the Wildcats to the win.

A six-run sixth inning — powered by two-run home runs by Gavin Cardoza and Asa Alfstad — helped put the game away for Fruita Monument (5-5).

Kall Smith was 3 for 4 and Alfstad, Weaver and Sam Hawkins all had two hits. Cardoza finished with three RBI and Hawkins, Alfstad and Ryan Madsen all had two RBI.

BOYS LACROSSE

Aidyn Cassity scored five goals and Paxton Webber added four to lead Grand Junction to a 15-3 victory over Mountain Range on Saturday.

Taylor Knob scored two goals and Jack Steury and Clancy Barrett both scored one. Triston Brinton led the way with three assists, Webber, Steury and Brady Cammpbell all contributed two assists and Knob added one assist for the Tigers (6-1).

Fruita Monument lost 18-5 to Prairie View at Canyon View.

GIRLS SOCCER

Durango scored two goals in the first half and one in the second to defeat Palisade 3-0 at Long Family Park on Saturday.

SOFTBALL

Colorado Mesa lost a doubleheader to CU-Colorado Springs on Saturday at the CMU Softball Field, falling 1-0 and 4-1.

In the Game 1 pitching duel, the Mountain Lions scored the only run in the sixth inning on a one-out single. Sophia Tassinari was the tough-luck loser, allowing nine hits in the complete-game effort. Makayla Westmoreland had two hits and Molli Magana had the only other hit for the Mavericks (17-13, 16-6 RMAC).

A three-run seventh inning that featured a solo home run, an RBI triple and a sacrifice fly helped UCCS extend their 1-0 lead. Sophie Litzen drove in the only run of the day for CMU in the bottom of the seventh inning.
