OK, that’s enough of that.
It’s just about time to get Konnor Griffin to MLB with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The No. 1 overall prospect in baseball didn’t make the Pirates’ Opening Day roster. He was instead sent to Triple-A Indianapolis to begin the 2026 season.
And while maybe it makes sense to not rush the 19-year old, Griffin also is going to quickly prove to be too good for Triple-A.
Just in the first first weekend of the season, Griffin went 5-for-10 with two doubles and two stolen bases.
This is Griffin’s debut at Triple-A. A season ago, he topped out at Double-A.
His stats last season across three levels were ridiculous: .333 batting average, 23 doubles, 4 triples, 21 home runs, 94 RBI and 65 steals (78 attempts).

Griffin quickly generated headlines in Spring Training when he hit a couple very long home runs right off the bat.
All told, Griffin may not have made quite enough contact as the spring went on to give the Pirates full confidence in keeping him in MLB to start the season.
Now, though, the question simply becomes how much they need to see out of Griffin at Triple-A.
Given his skillset, he’s going to look like a future star for however long he’s playing down with Indianapolis.
And the longer Griffin continues to prove his ability, the sooner he is to a call-up to the major leagues. It will almost certainly feel overdue, whether it happens soon or not.
