Monday’s Major League Baseball slate winds down with the defending World Series champions in action. The Los Angeles Dodgers (3-0), fresh off of a sweep to open the season, are at home for an interleague matchup with the Cleveland Guardians (2-2). It’s the first game of a three-game series at Dodgers Stadium. Cleveland comes in playing the second half of a season-opening West Coast road trip that saw them play four games against the Seattle Mariners over the weekend.

Righty Roki Sasaki will start this game for the Dodgers. This will be his sophomore season in Major League Baseball, after an accomplished career pitching in Japan. In 2025, Sasaki pitching in 10 games making eight starts, posting a 4.46 ERA. In the postseason he came up clutch multiple times out of the bullpen, allowing just one run in 10.2 innings pitched spread over nine playoff appearances.

25-year-old lefty Parker Messick will start this game for the Guardians. A 2022 second-round pick out of Florida State he also made his MLB debut last year. In seven appearances, all starts, he went 3-1 with a 2.72 ERA.
