On Monday night, the New York Yankees will start their series (in Seattle) with the Mariners.

They are coming off a sweep over the San Francisco Giants (in California).

New York Yankees Announce Gerrit Cole Update

Before the Yankees play the Mariners, Aaron Boone announced several injury updates (including one on Cole).

Gary Phillips of New York Daily News wrote: “Aaron Boone said Gerrit Cole has a one-inning live BP in a couple days. Carlos Rodón tossed a 50-pitch live BP yesterday. Anthony Volpe remains set to face live pitching this week.”

Cole last pitched during the 2024 season when he went 8-5 with a 3.41 ERA in 17 games.

He is in his seventh season as a member of the Yankees.

SNY wrote (on March 18): “Gerrit Cole pitched a scoreless inning in his spring debut as the Yankees beat the Red Sox.”

Cole’s MLB Career

Cole was the first pick in the 2011 MLB Draft.

He spent the first five years of his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Following the Pirates, Cole had a two-year stint with the Houston Astros.

Cole has made the All-Star Game in three of the five seasons he has played for New York.

He helped lead the Astros to the World Series (in 2018) and Yankees (in 2024).

Looking At The Yankees

The Yankees looked excellent in their first three games against the Giants.

They allowed just one run in the entire series.

Getting Cole back in action would only boost arguably the best pitching staff in the American League.

Following Seattle, the Yankees will head home to host the Miami Marlins on April 3.

They are coming off a season where they lost to the Blue Jays in the ALDS.
