It’s only been four games, but the Boston Red Sox‘s big offseason additions have not made a good impression so far, contributing to the team’s 1-3 start.

After losing Alex Bregman in free agency, the Red Sox traded for Caleb Durbin to replace him at third base. Durbin has started the year ice cold at the plate, going 0-14 with three strikeouts to begin his sophomore campaign.

Meanwhile, Bregman’s off to a solid start with the Chicago Cubs, batting .235/.316/.588 with two home runs through four games.

Willson Contreras is also struggling, going 1-13 with a single, four walks and five strikeouts in his first four games in a Boston uniform after being traded from the St. Louis Cardinals.

They’re not the only ones struggling, however, as the team’s entire offense has been cold, scoring just 11 runs through four games.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox’s new pitchers have stumbled on the mound.

Sonny Gray lasted just four innings in his Boston debut on Saturday, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk with five strikeouts against the Cincinnati Reds. He did not receive a decision, but the Red Sox lost the game.

Boston also lost Ranger Suarez’s debut on Monday versus the Houston Astros. Suarez’s poor spring training carried over into the regular season, as he took the loss after yielding four runs on seven hits, a walk and two home runs in 4 1/3 innings.

Johan Oviedo also made his Red Sox debut on Monday, relieving Suarez. However, he was hit hard and allowed the game to get out of hand, surrendering four runs on six hits, a walk and two homers in 3 2/3 innings.

Not the start Boston was hoping for from its new stars, but the season has only just begun. There’s still plenty of time for them to straighten things out and start helping the team win games.
