The Philadelphia Phillies have not gotten their season off to an ideal start.
To figure out why, one doesn’t have to look any further than the three superstar hitters at the top of the lineup: Trea Turner, Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber.
All three have gotten off to a miserable start to the season.
Turner is 3-for-18 with one double, a walk and five strikeouts.
Harper is 1-for-16 with a single, two walks and four strikeouts.
Schwarber is 2-for-16 with a home run, one walk and eight strikeouts.
Together, they’re 6-for-50. That’s a .120 batting average.
It doesn’t get much better elsewhere in the order, either.
Adolis Garcia is 3-for-15.
Alec Bohm is 2-for-14.
J.T. Realmuto is 1-for-9.

Yes, it’s early, and so these are things that can stabilize as time goes along. But it’s obviously not ideal for the Phillies to have most of their order, including the big boys, scuffling right out of the gates.
At least they’ve got Brandon March 5-for-12, Justin Crawford 3-for-9 and Bryson Stott 3-for-8.
Otherwise, it’s been rough.
For the Phillies to turn things around, they’ll need their tone setters to start whacking the ball around the yard. It starts at the top.
