Manny Machado has gotten off to a slow start to the 2026 MLB season for the San Diego Padres.

In fact, the star third baseman doesn’t even have an RBI yet.

When he gets one, though, he’ll break a tie with a recent star on an all-time MLB leaderboard.

Machado currently is in a tie for 196th all time in Major League Baseball with 1,144 RBI and counting.

The player he’s tied with? Joey Votto, of Cincinnati Reds fame.

Votto may have been known more for his pristine plate vision, but he also was a great run producer for the Reds.

Machado, in a well-traveled MLB career, has also been great at driving in runs. And at age 33, Machado still has a lot of time to climb up this board.

At the end of last season, Machado passed Dante Bichette and Ken Boyer, both of whom finished their careers with 1,141 RBI.

Next up after breaking the tie with Votto will be the likes of Mark Grace (1146), Roy Sievers (1147) and Rudy York (1149).

Some recent players aren’t far ahead, including Evan Longoria and Alfonso Soriano at 1,159.

Machado is just behind a couple of active players, too, in Andrew McCutchen (1,156) and Giancarlo Stanton (1,171).

If we give Machado approximately 90 RBI for the season, he’d move into the top-150 of all time. And if he another 90 the next season, he’d be on the verge of the top-100.

Machado has put together a special career, although his team changing has sometimes left him slightly less appreciated than some of his generation’s top players.

But when all is said and done, Machado’s stats will tell quite the story about his feats.
