QUINCY — The Quincy Blue Devils scored four runs in the first inning of Tuesday’s baseball game against Macomb, setting the tone early in a 6-3 win over the Bombers.
Blue Devils starting pitcher Noah Wells earned the win after pitching 4.2 innings with five strikeouts, while allowing two hits, three walks and five strikeouts. He went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs.
QHS pitcher Chase Saalborn pitched the final two innings in relief with two strikeouts, while allowing two hits, no walks and no runs. Ty Lawson pitched a third of an inning with a strikeout.
Macomb starting pitcher Nick Elbe was tagged with the loss after pitching three innings with two strikeouts, while allowing four hits, two walks and four earned runs. Elbe went 2-for-3 with a run.
Bombers reliever Hayden Katz pitched three scoreless innings in relief with one strikeout, while allowing one hit and one walk.
Blue Devils center fielder Jacob Salisbury went 3-for-3 with a double, run and two stolen bases.
QHS third baseman James Day went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI, while second baseman Kade Parkhill went 1-for-2 with a walk and two RBIs.
Up next for QHS (4-1-1) are road games against Galesburg on Wednesday and Palmyra on Thursday, both 4:30 p.m. starts.
