HANNIBAL — Hannibal held its own against North Central Missouri Conference powerhouse Moberly for five innings.

The Pirates then allowed seven runs in the final two innings, with undefeated Moberly defeating Hannibal 10-4 at Veterans Baseball Field on Tuesday.

Hannibal catcher Alex Arthaud went 4-for-4 with two doubles.

Pirates right fielder Luke Straube went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, while center fielder Cooper Scott went 1-for-2 and left fielder Brody Wilson went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Hannibal starting pitcher Azariah Tucker went 5.1 innings with four strikeouts in a losing effort, while allowing four hits, seven walks and four earned runs.

The Pirates used Nicholas Nguyen and Calvin Mueller in relief.

Spartans starting pitcher Max Richardson got a no-decision after pitching five innings with three strikeouts, while allowing five hits, one walk and two earned runs.

Moberly relief pitcher Kaden Abel earned the win after pitching two scoreless innings with one strikeout and allowing two hits and no walks.

Spartans shortstop Nolan Samuel went 3-for-5 with a run and three RBIs, while Abel went 2-for-3 with a walk, three RBIs and two stolen bases.

Up next for Hannibal (2-6) is a pair of road games against Elsberry on Wednesday and Mexico on Thursday.
