FLINTON — The Glendale softball team collected its first win of the season on Tuesday, posting a 15-5, 6-inning mercy-rule victory against visiting Williamsburg.

Williamsburg grabbed a quick 1-0 lead with a first-inning run, but Glendale countered with four runs of its own in the bottom of the first before scoring twice in the second to go up 6-1.

The Lady Vikings added another run in the fourth for a 7-1 advantage before Williamsburg made things interesting with a four-run fifth to get within two at 7-5.

However, thats as close as the Lady Pirates got as Glendale exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the sixth — ending things in walk-off fashion when Hannah Simmers singled home Jayden Fry with their team’s 15th and final run. Simmers actuallt raced around to third on the bases-loaded hit, but the game officially ended when Fry scored.

Fry and Kaufman each went 3-for-4 for Glendale, with Kaufman having a double and two RBIs. Madison Ball, Rosalie McClellan, Macy Snyder and Leah Boslet all added two hits, with Boslet having a double and two RBIs. Ball also drove in a pair.

McClellan notched the win in the circle, allowing five runs, all earned, on six hits in five innings of work. She struck out four and walked four.

Glendale (1-1) is off until Monday when it hosts Homer-Center.
