This kid just had the moment of his life by catching the first home run ball of the Toronto Blue Jays’ 50th season.
Charlie Kramer, an 11-year-old boy from Chicago, Illinois, made the catch when he was visiting Canada with his parents.
Even though he lives in the United States, he cheers for the Blue Jays because his dad is from Toronto, Ontario.
On March 28, Charlie and his parents went to his very first Blue Jays game at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. It was the opening weekend for the 2026 Major League Baseball season.
When Toronto’s all-star catcher, Alejandro Kirk, launched a home run into the stands, Charlie reached out and caught it.
“It’s pretty special,” Charlie told CBC News. “It was, like, the home run ball to tie the game.”
The Jays went on to beat the Oakland Athletics 8-7.

The home run ball was also special for another reason: it was the first home run of the Jays’ 50th season.
The Blue Jays played their first game in March 1977. That’s a long time ago.

Eleven-year-old Charlie Kramer thinks his home run ball might have some special value. ‘I think we could sell this for something,’ he told CBC News. (Image submitted by Richard Kramer)
That means the ball could have a little more than just sentimental value. It could eventually be worth a lot of money as a fan collectible.
But Charlie’s dad, Richard, says they have no plans to sell the ball.
“We’re going to keep it,” he said.
Expectations are sky-high for the Blue Jays this season.
Last year, the team was crowned American League champions and went to the World Series, but they lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 7.
The American League championship banner was raised at the Rogers Centre as part of the opening weekend celebrations.
Fans are hoping this is the Jays’ comeback season.
Charlie will be watching from Chicago, and his family is planning to return this summer to watch another game in Toronto.
But it might be hard to beat his first game experience.
