Brent Rooker isn’t just settling into his role as a veteran presence for the Athletics—he’s settling into Sacramento, too.
Speaking on Sactown Sports’ The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross, the Athletics’ All-Star DH made it clear that the team’s temporary home has become something much more meaningful.
“We’ve loved it. It’s been a great place for all of us,” Rooker said. “A really good place for me and my family. We enjoy living there.”
As the Athletics continue their unique transition period between Oakland and a future move to Las Vegas (planned for 2028), Sacramento has provided stability—and according to Rooker, a genuine sense of community.
“The community has been very, very welcoming to us, very warm. We felt that since day one,” he added. “We’re appreciative of all of those things.”

For a team navigating uncertainty about its long-term future, that kind of support matters. Rooker emphasized that, despite outside noise about relocation or broader league issues, the Athletics clubhouse remains focused on the present as the green and gold begin the 2026 season with heightened expectations.
“It’s not a distraction,” Rooker said. “We know we have a task at hand.”
That task includes building on a competitive start to the season and meeting rising expectations. But off the field, the connection between the Athletics and Sacramento continues to grow—from fan support to players immersing themselves in the local sports scene.
Rooker even noted the passion of Sacramento fans at other events, calling it “always evident how much those fans love their sports.”
For now, the Athletics are Sacramento’s team—and if Rooker’s words are any indication, that relationship is working both ways entering Year 2 at Sutter Health Park.
