Trinity Valley holds the No. 8 spot in the Monday NJCAA softball poll after a tough double header split at Navarro, Saturday.

The day started well for TVCC as they jumped ahead early in Game 1 and made it stand up for a 5-2 win.

The Lady Cards struck for three runs in the first and added another in the second to take a 4-0 lead.

Clarissa Valdez went 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in a run. She also had a double.

Allie Wainwright crushed a three-run homer. Wainwright now leads the conference with 66 RBI.

Dominique Vargas worked four innings in the circle to get the win. She recorded six strikeouts.

Navarro 5 TVCC 4 Game 2

Despite scoring four runs over the final two innings, the Cardinals came up short in the second game.

Alexis Ortiz had two of the Lady Cardinals’ five hits. TVCC was issued nine bases on balls but couldn’t get runners home.

Makayla Castillo was tagged with the loss in the circle. Castillo went four-plus innings and struck out six.

TVCC was 31-5 coming into a home doubleheader against Kilgore, Monday.Â
