The 2026 college baseball season has hit its midpoint and that means time the NCAA Tournament projections are rolling in, including Ole Miss in the Field of 64.
Though the start of Southeastern Conference play has been poor, to say the least, the Rebels (20-10, 3-6 SEC) are still included in the tournament field per projections from D1Baseball and Baseball America.
Each outlet released updated projections on Wednesday. Ole Miss is currently a projected 2 Seed in the Hattiesburg Regional with Southern Mississippi as the 8 National Seed by the folks at D1Baseball. Joining the Rebels and Golden Eagles is 3 Seed Pittsburgh and 4 Seed Bryant.
It would mark a return to Pete Taylor Park for the Rebels after playing there on March 10 in an extra innings 2-1 loss.
D1Baseball has the regional paired with the Corvallis Regional and 9 National Seed Oregon State.
Baseball America also has Ole Miss as a 2 Seed but in the Chapel Hill Regional with North Carolina hosting as the 7 National Seed. Joining the Rebels and Tar Heels is 3 Seed Mercer and 4 Seed Campbell.
The Rebels are heading to Gainesville on a short week with its series at No. 21 Florida (23-7, 6-3) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. CT. Friday’s game is also set for 5:30 p.m. CT and Saturday’s series finale is set for 6:30 p.m. CT and will air on SEC Network. Taylor Rabe will get the start on Thursday with Hunter Elliott and Cade Townsend getting Friday and Saturday, keeping them on normal rest.
The Gators are coming off a 4-3 loss to Jacksonville on Tuesday while Ole Miss rallied to beat Little Rock in its annual Kids Day game, 7-4.
Heading into the weekend the Rebels are No. 12 in the RPI rankings and Florida sitting at No. 5, presenting a Quad 1 opportunity weekend. Ole Miss is currently 6-9 in Quad 1 games this season.
