Louisville spent the final day of the season as the lone minor league club on the field this afternoon. And they picked up their first loss of the season in the process as two big innings from Iowa did all the work that the Cubs needed to push the Bats to 4-1 on the year.
Through Friday the 10th I will be including the Top 25 Prospect Rundown here on the site and game notes, but after that if you would like to get that each and every day, you can get it emailed to you every morning during the season by signing up at Patreon and helping support the site.
The Louisville Bats lost 12-7. Box Score
Game Notes
It was a tough day for Chase Petty. He threw a perfect 1st inning, getting three groundouts in the process. He then got the first batter of the next inning on a strikeout. But things fell apart after that. Seven of the next eight batters reached safely and he gave up two home runs in the process – including a grand slam. He would be charged with seven earned run in 1.2 innings.
Rece Hinds is on fire. In a span of about 17 hours he hit three home runs. After last night’s walk-off home run he hit a grand slam in the 1st inning of Wednesday’s game and then added a solo home run in the 7th. He’s hitting a cool .526/.600/1.105 with 12 RBI, five walks, and five strikeouts in five games.
Edwin Arroyo entered the game with three hits on the season. He doubled his season total with three hits on the day. In 2025 he had five 3-hit games with Chattanooga. Two were in April, two were in July, and the final one came on September 9th.
Blake Dunn is not quite as hot as Hinds is, but he’s out to a great start for the Bats as well. He’s hitting .400, has four walks, two steals, he’s been hit by two pitches, and he’s scored eight runs through the first five games.
For the 4th time in five games the Bats pitching staff racked up double-digit strikeouts.
The loss dropped Louisville to 4-1. The last time they began a season 5-0 was 1998.

Top 25 Prospects Rundown
Today is the last day in which Louisville will be the only team playing on the farm until possibly the last week of the season. Dayton and Daytona both start their season on Thursday. Chattanooga gets started on Friday.
