CARDBIZ: LOS ANGELES (April 1, 2026) The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to stockpile pitching depth, bolstering their bullpen by claiming 25-year-old righty Grant Holman off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks, acquiring 27-year-old lefty Jake Eder from the Washington Nationals for cash considerations.
To clear space on the 40-man roster, LA transferred right-handers Gavin Stone and Jake Cousins to the 60-day injured list.
Grant Holman
Originally a 6th-round pick by the Athletics out of UC Berkeley, Holman appeared in 22 games for the A’s in 2025 (4-2, 5.09 ERA) following a dominant 2024 campaign with Triple-A Las Vegas, where he posted a 0.92 ERA over 29.1 innings. An intriguing, high-upside relief prospect still trying to find his MLB footing. He throws a 94-95 mph fastball with a heavy splitter while mixing in a slider against righties. While his overall major league numbers are pedestrian, his minor league strikeout numbers are excellent, where he struck out over 27% of the batters he faced.
His official “RC” shield cards dropped in 2025 Topps products (like Topps Chrome and Topps Heritage):
Base Rookie Autographs: 2025 Topps Chrome base autos are selling between $1 and $5 on eBay.
Numbered Refractor Autos: Green Refractor Autos (/99) and Blue Wave Autos (/150) are currently sitting in the $8 to $20 range.
Base/Non-Autos: Standard 2025 Topps Series 2 base rookies or his older 2021 Bowman Draft cards are selling for well under $1.
If you are looking at this from an investment standpoint, you are weighing two massive competing factors: The Dodger Bump vs. The Reliever Reality. The Los Angeles Dodgers have the best pitching staff in baseball and are notorious for claiming waiver-wire arms with good secondary pitches and turning them into productive weapons. Simply putting on a Dodgers jersey instantly increases a player’s hobby visibility tenfold compared to wearing an A’s or D-Backs uniform. That being said, pitchers are notoriously bad investments and middle relievers are at the absolute bottom of the barrel.
The Verdict:
Holman is not a serious long-term investment, but he is a fantastic, zero-risk speculation target. At $2 to $5 for an on-card Topps Chrome autograph, he is a cheap lottery ticket. If the Dodgers work their magic and he becomes a dominant setup man or closer by October, those $2 autos could easily become $15–$20 flips.
Jake Eder
A former standout at Vanderbilt drafted in the 4th round by the Marlins in 2020, Eder was recently DFA’d by Washington. He spent parts of 2025 in the Los Angeles Angels’ bullpen, logging a 4.91 ERA over eight appearances. Despite making his major league debut with the White Sox in late 2024, Eder has battled inconsistency across his professional career, carrying a 5.39 ERA and 353 strikeouts over 69 minor league starts.
Eder is a classic tale of an elite pitching prospect derailed by injuries. Before undergoing Tommy John surgery in late 2021, he was one of the best left-handed pitching prospects in baseball. A breakout star in the Marlins’ system, he tosses a mid-90s fastball and a sharp, sweeping slider, even appearing in the 2021 All-Star Futures Game. But command and control have been his biggest hurdles since returning from elbow surgery. Dealt to the White Sox for Jake Burger in 2023, he has bounced around to the Angels and Nationals since struggling to regain his elite prospect form. The Dodgers are taking a flier on his raw talent, hoping their touch can fix his mechanics and resurrect his career.
Eder’s cards appear to be split into two distinct eras: his early “prospect” cards (highly-touted Marlin) and his official MLB Rookie Cards (White Sox pitcher).
Bowman 1st (2020/2021): His 1st Bowman Chrome autographs as a Marlin can be purchased for roughly $5 to $10.
True Rookie Cards (2025): His official “RC” shield cards have plunged to $1 ungraded with his graded gems (PSA 10) at $30 to $35.
Pure speculation because it is The Dodgers – and that is it. Unlike a typical waiver wire pickup, Eder has a proven track record of dominance (pre-2022). If Mark Prior and the Dodgers’ development staff can fix his release point and unlock that 2021 slider, he could realistically become a lethal, high-leverage weapon for a championship contender. Even if he pitches well, he is still likely bound for middle relief.
The Verdict:
At $5 for a 1st Bowman Chrome Autograph, he is an excellent, low-risk if suddenly he is pitching meaningful October.
