Laketran is once again stepping up to the plate with its popular Sports Express service, offering round-trip transportation to the Cleveland Guardians home opener at 4:10 p.m. on April 3 at Progressive Field, where the team will face the Chicago Cubs.
After the opener, Laketran will continue Sports Express service to all Guardians weekend home games throughout the regular season, providing fans a “stress-free way to enjoy America’s pastime.”
Beyond baseball, hockey fans can get in on the action too, as the transit agency is expandingSports Express to include Cleveland Monsters weekend games. The Monsters are the American Hockey League affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League.
The service will also be available for select shows and major events in Downtown Cleveland, “making it easier than ever for Lake County residents to access the region’s top entertainment destinations.”
Laketran CEO Ben Capelle noted that Sports Express continues to grow because it delivers what riders want — easy, affordable access to big games and events.
“Whether it’s Opening Day, a Monsters game or a concert, we’re proud to provide a convenient and enjoyable ride for our community without the hassle of driving, parking or navigating downtown traffic,” he said.
Sports Express buses depart from Laketran’s Mentor Park-n-Ride location, at 8650 Market St., about two hours before a game or event begins, with drop-off points within walking distance of venues.
Return trips will depart 45 minutes after each event, officials confirmed.
To make the experience more affordable, Laketran provides a 20 percent discount for groups of three or more riders, along with a Buy the Bus option.
