Orcutt Academy freshman Rowan Elkin won the NSBCART Athlete of the Week for a big performance last week on the track at the Quad Dual Meet at Lompoc High School.

Elkin finished first in the 800-meter with a personal best of 2:39.71 and second in the 400-meter with a 21:06.26. She was also the first leg of the 4×400 relay where the team finished 4:39.61

Lompoc softball walks off against Mission College Prep

Lily Drysol was the hero for Lompoc’s softball team on Wednesday afternoon.

The Braves junior singled in there bottom of the seventh to celebrate a 5-4 win over Mission College Prep. The win puts them a half-game behind Righetti for second place in the Mountain League Standings.

She finished the game 2-for-3 with the game-winning RBI.

Mission College Prep (7-11, 2-4 Mountain) took an early lead in the first inning but Drysol singled down the right field line to tie the game at 2-2 in the third inning.

Lompoc (7-4, 4-2 Mountain) took the lead when Lili Ortega singled home a run in the bottom of the fifth inning.

But the Braves lead didn’t last.

Royals’ Malia Okimoto doubled to center to score two runs in the top of the seventh inning.

All Drysol needed was a single down the left field line to start the celebration.

Lompoc continues its season on Friday in a non-league game against San Marcos. It played St. Joseph in a Mountain League game but the results were not available at press time.

Pioneer Valley boys golf wins Ocean League Mini Tournament

The Pioneer Valley boys golf team won the Ocean League Mini Tournament beating Lompoc, Santa Maria and Orcutt Academy at the Santa Maria Country Club on Monday.

The Panthers were led by Ethan Ward who shot a 91 following by Justin Biascan’s 93 and Raymond Castillo’s 99.

Lompoc’s Zach Olson and Santa Maria’s Ricardo Gonzalez had the Brest individual performances shooting a 90 on the day.
