TAMPA, Fla. — The Hillsborough County Commission will soon schedule a workshop to talk about possible finances ideas for a proposed Tampa Bay Rays stadium at Hillsborough College’s Dale Mabry campus.
County Attorney Julia Mandell decided Wednesday that all the notes, drafts and proposals generate so far by county staff were not public record.
So they don’t have to release them to the public.
County commissioners, as well as city council members, could take a vote on the proposed $2.3 billion Tampa Bay Rays stadium deal in mid-April 2026, with meetings tentatively set for April 15 and 16.
The team is envisioning a mixed-used entertainment district that would include a domed stadium that can seat about 31,000 people. The entire development would stretch about 130 acres across the campus.
The college campus is located across from Raymond James Stadium. Rays officials have said they would like to be in the new facility in time for the 2029 season.
